Presentation: Insights from the AHRI Safe Refrigerant Task Force and UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute (FSRI) partnership to conduct research experiments on A2L flammable refrigerants.
The UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute, in partnership with members of the fire service and AHRI, developed firefighter training related to the refrigerant transition mandated by both federal and state regulations. The result was the development of an online training course, “Firefighter Safety and Flammable Refrigerants”, which explores the results of research experiments conducted to comparatively test newer A2L refrigerants (lower global warming potential refrigerants) with traditional A1 refrigerants in replicated firefighting scenarios.
A panel discussion will provide an overview of flammable refrigerants, and discuss the research conducted, and provide excerpts from the training, and future directions for flammable refrigerants.
