We are excited to announce that CAL FIRE - Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Community Wildfire Preparedness and Mitigation Division and the Community Wildfire Planning Center are offering another round of trainings in early 2026.

An Introduction to Land Use Planning for Wildfires in California are free, all-day, in person trainings, and are open to land use planners, fire marshals, fire chiefs, fire mitigation specialists, building officials, and other professionals from government agencies and the private sector engaged in planning, policy, development review and/or approval activities in California.
 
Attendees who participate in this training will:

  • Increase understanding of the most up-to-date state requirements for planning in fire hazard areas
  • Expand knowledge of wildfire vulnerabilities in the built environment
  • Learn about best practices and resources
  • Interact with peers to exchange perspectives on fire mitigation and planning

Six trainings will be held between February and May 2026. If you have already attended one of our previous trainings, you are welcome to attend again as some content has changed to incorporate updates to state requirements.
